5. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
When I was younger, I begged my parents to let me watch this cartoon at least 3 times a day during the month of October. Classic, lighthearted, plus who doesn’t love Snoopy!
4. Nightmare Before Christmas
What’s this? What’s this? I never really know what holiday this movie falls under, but in any case, it’s a good excuse to start getting in the Christmas spirit a bit early!
An added bonus after this film, the song will be stuck in your head! Sing it loud, y’all – Who you gonna call?! 👻
2. Hotel Transylvania
A more recent pick, this family film is a fun take on Halloween! Plus with a star-studded cast, even Mom and Dad will enjoy guessing the celebs’ voices!
1. Hocus Pocus
My all-time fave movie, the Sanderson Sisters really bring it to life! There are so many quotable moments to choose from, as well as Bette Midler singing “I Put a Spell on You” that makes me get up and dance every time it comes on!

Eat, Drink & Be Scary! Our Top Party Ideas + Decorations
That’s crate! (excuse the bad pun, I couldn’t resist). Take old wood boxes or crates and add some fairy lights to create a spooky, outdoor hommage! We love adding in pumpkins (or mini-gourds) and other decorations for an added touch!
Insert a fog machine or some liquid smoke into your Jack-o-Lantern takes it to the next level! Nervous to use a knife to carve? Try painting on the pumpkins for a different look!
We can’t guarantee this idea is for everyone, but by taking some old dolls and some red paint, you can transform the front gate into a Dollhouse of Horrors! Trespassers, beware!
Ooh la la! Black and orange macarons are a classy way to add some sweetness to your party! Change it up from candy corn and your guests will be ooh-ing and awe-ing.
Don’t forget to take pictures to capture the moment and your fabulous decorations! Canvas prints* or even larger 8×10 prints can also be picked up the same-day at Walgreens or CVS for last-minute deco!
*Walgreens only product, coming soon to CVS

4. Old Married Couple
It’s cozy-chic! All you need is a fuzzy bathrobe, pjs (the tackier the better), and slippers for this ensemble! Bonus points if you add curlers in your hair, or go all out with gray hair dye and makeup wrinkles.

Throw on your favorite yellow dress or shirt and add your DIY leaf headband for a quick and easy costume! Plus, you can drink piña coladas all night long – hey, it’s on-brand, baby!

Halloween Craft Ideas
Markers and glue sticks and paint … oh my! Check out these easy DIY Halloween crafts, perfect for little and big kids of all ages!
Jack O Lanterns, but make it kid-friendly
I don’t know about you but the thought of giving my little monster a knife to try to carve a pumpkin is scary enough! Want to include the kids in the activity and don’t want to get messy? Paper plates make a great makeshift pumpkin. Cut out black construction paper to create the face, or go crazy with markers and paint! The choice is up to you!
Toilet Paper Roll Monsters
Little Tommy is a Dracula fan, but sister Anna thinks it is “for boys.” This easy craft is perfect to personalize for any kiddo! Take a toilet paper roll and go to town decorating it with your favorite monster or even Disney character!
Special Craft Idea
Yes, we’re keeping the suspense, but join us for a very-special Zoom Halloween Craft Party on Monday, October 26th at 12 pm (EST). All ages (kiddos and adults too!) are welcome to come and see the Picta’Team dressed up in our Halloween best and to get our craft on!
Bonus! (since it has been a spooky year …)
We get it! 2020 looks nothing like we expected when we counted down on December 31st. But, it’s important to keep positive and try to keep things (relatively) normal! Do you normally have a Halloween Party but are worried about social distancing? Have a Zoom party like we are and celebrate together in your best costumes!
Some clever homeowners are getting creative with pulleys and chutes to deliver Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters. Check out our Facebook page for more!
And of course, how can we forget about the mask? Take advantage and let the mask guide your costume this year – ninja, nurse, doctor, even a ghost and mummy can take advantage of a mask! Or let the mask be your makeup, with cat whiskers, vampire fangs, the possibilities are endless!
